Check that all the connections between battery (including ground connection) and starter are TIGHT! If your bike has a lot of miles, it's possible that your starter's brushes are worn to the point where they're not conducting enough current to turn the starter against the resistance of the engine. You'll have to remove the starter and its end cap to check the brushes. If they're worn, they must be replaced. Some people think that brushes are for keeping the commutator clean. NO! They are CONDUCTORS OF ELECTRIC CURRENT!
